Aerodynamics and Weight Distribution of Darts Equipment
The engineering of Darts Equipment focuses on the "Center of Gravity" (CoG) and the aerodynamic stability of the projectile. A dart consists of a point, a barrel (the weighted component), a shaft, and a flight.
The barrel is typically manufactured from Tungsten Alloys (often 80-95%) due to tungsten's high density. This allows for a slimmer profile, which reduces the "grouping" distance on the board. The "Flight" acts as an airfoil; the surface area and shape (Standard, Pear, or Slim) determine the "Drag Coefficient." A larger flight provides more stability but creates more drag, while a smaller flight allows for a flatter, faster trajectory.
