Superflat Flooring and F-Number Standards
The Physics of Robotic and VNA Compatibility
In Industrial Warehouse Construction, the floor is not just a surface; it is a precision-engineered piece of equipment. High-reach forklifts and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) require "Superflat" floors. Flatness is measured using the Allen-Face F-Number System:
$F_F$ (Floor Flatness): Measures the bumpiness of the surface.
$F_L$ (Floor Levelness): Measures the tilt or pitch of the slab.
For Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) warehouses, an $F_F$ of $100$ or higher is often required. Achieving this requires "Laser Screeding" technology and specialized "Hardening" agents (lithium silicates) that densify the concrete surface, preventing "dusting" which can interfere with the optical sensors of robotic fleets.
